WHAT IS HOLISTIC AND FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE?
Holistic medicine focuses on the person as a whole and incorporates all aspects of wellness for better outcomes. Functional medicine seeks to find root causes, rather than just band-aid symptoms. Symptoms are our bodies way of communicating with us that something is wrong. There are a number of physical imbalances and deficiencies that can mimic mental health disorders. It is important to ensure these potential "aggravating" factors are addressed. This practice provider is passionate about these modalities and integrates these styles into each individual treatment plan.
WHAT THINGS DO YOU OFFER BESIDES MEDICATION MANAGEMENT OR PSYCHOTHERAPY?
Implementing integrative/functional medicine into mental health treatment is central to the foundation of better care. Additional areas of focus involve the gut-microbiome, discovering deficiencies that may be detected through blood/lab work that is not traditionally completed in Western Medicine, restoring optimal levels and balance, vasovagal exercises, lifestyle and environmental factors, mind-body practices, and much more. Our provider will refer you to other specialty providers or primary care when indicated.
WHAT DO I NEED TO DO PRIOR TO MY APPOINTMENT?
Complete new patient paperwork and return it electronically, along with a copy of your driver's license. If you will be using insurance we will need a copy of your insurance card.
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
This practice requires you to cancel at least 48 hours prior to your scheduled appointment time. For all no call / no show appointments or appts cancelled with less than 24 hr notice you will be charged 1/2 your typical appointment cost or $150 for new patient appointments. In emergent cases, please contact us immediately and if the circumstance is determined to be dire, this fee may be eligible to be waived. However, this fee may not be waived more than once. Frequent no call/no shows may warrant dismissal from this practice.
WHAT WILL MY FIRST APPOINTMENT BE LIKE?
New patient appointments typically last 60-90 minutes. You will be warmly welcomed and met with compassion. During your initial appointment, we will establish a therapeutic relationship. An extensive interview and history will be obtained and reviewed. At the end of the session, we will offer you our diagnosis, as well as a personalized treatment plan that may include medications, psychotherapy, psycho-education, and a personalized wellness plan that we will build upon. Our treatment plans are highly individualized and incorporate functional, holistic, and integrative medicine modalities.
